Office Update on COVID-19

Abilene Family Medical Associates, has been and still is open and operational to meet Abilene’s needs. In order to receive the best possible care from providers who are knowledgeable about your existing health issues, we recommend for you to continue to be seen by your current primary care physician. If you are not feeling well, you should be evaluated and treated. Please take a moment to read below the precautions we are taking to ensure the safety of our patients and staff. If you are needing care, please reach out to our office to schedule the appropriate type of appointment for the services you are requiring.

We are doing everything we can to be proactive and prepared as we face this unprecedented health issue.  We are here to serve you and our community as we work hard to keep our patients, community and staff safe and healthy.  We have implemented several strategies and modifications to our office practices to ensure a healthy and safe environment in an effort to minimize the potential spread of COVID-19:

  • We continue to see patients by appointment only. Please call us at 325-695-6370

  • We have now reopened our waiting from to patients in limited amounts.

  • You will be required to wear a mask and request that you come prepared with your own.

  • When arriving for your appointment, you will be screened for symptoms and temperature at the door prior to entry. If cleared, you will be allowed to enter and complete the check in process to wait for your appointment.

  • If you do not clear the screening process, you will asked to return to your car and call the office to complete the check in process and be triaged from your vehicle for the safety of the staff and other patients.

  • To promote social distancing, we are asking you to minimize the number of extra people who accompany you to your visit.

  • Individuals under the age of 18 will not be allowed in the office unless they have an appointment to be seen.

  • Exam tables, counters, doorknobs, waiting room chairs, pens, etc will be wiped down frequently throughout the day with commercial grade anti-microbial wipes.

  • Alcohol based hand sanitizer will be located throughout the office for use when necessary.

Additionally, our staff has been asked to adhere to the following preventative practices:

  • Staying home from work if not feeling well or exhibiting any of the symptoms of illness. Temperatures of all staff taken upon arrival.

  • Requiring all staff to wash hands frequently for a minimum of 20 seconds with soap and water

  • Frequent use of 60-90% hand sanitizer regularly throughout the day

Below are some recommended things you can do to minimize the potential spread of COVID-19:

   • Wash your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds with soap and water
   • Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer (60-90%) if unable to wash with soap and water
   • Avoid touching your mouth, nose and eyes
   • Social distancing - Minimizing social contact, even with “healthy” individuals as much as
possible is critical to decrease exposure and transmission of the virus. Take measures to avoid unnecessary contact with large crowds and confined gatherings of people.

   • STAY HOME if you are not feeling well, even if it just “a little cold” or allergies.
   • If you are not feeling well, call your primary health care provider for guidance.
   • If you are feeling critically ill, go to the nearest Emergency Room.

Everyone needs to be responsible and do their part.  Please visit the Center for Disease Control (CDC) for reliable up to date information:
